Tarbat Golf Club is situated in the village of Portmahomack nine miles from Tain in Ross-shire. The club was founded in 1909, and John Sutherland, the famous secretary of Royal Dornoch G.C., advised on the design of the original course. The club has a reputation for being extremely welcoming to new members and visitors alike. You will definitely encounter a true ‘highland’ welcome and the sort of hospitality you expect in this wonderful part of the country. Why don’t you try some of the wonderful home baking in the Tee Up before or after your game? The course benefits from some wonderful views with the Moray cost to the south, across to the Dornoch Firth where you can see Royal Dornoch’s two golf courses to the north and the mountains to the west towards Dingwall and beyond. On the odd occasion that it does rain (Portmahomack benefits from some of the lowest levels of rainfall in the UK), you can see the weather approaching and can usually get the waterproofs on before it arrives!

Competition days are Wednesdays for the ladies and Saturdays for the gents. You are still able to play on these days as long as you give preference to members playing in the competitions. We recommend that you avoid early on Saturday mornings as this tends to be the busiest time. Portmahomack is very popular with tourists and many come and enjoy a round at the course which welcomes any standard of golfer. |
